Can learning about hydrogen technologies be fun? The STORMING project thinks so.
To celebrate European Hydrogen Week 2024 and bring Europe’s hydrogen transition closer to a wider audience, EEIP has launched the STORMING Hydrogen Quiz on the EnerWhizz platform. Running from 4 November 2024 to 31 January 2025, the interactive quiz combines learning, competition and rewards, giving participants the opportunity to explore the world of clean hydrogen while competing for exclusive STORMING prizes.
Developed as part of EEIP’s communication and dissemination activities within the STORMING project, the campaign demonstrates how innovative engagement can make complex European research more accessible, interactive and enjoyable.
Ready to Take the Challenge?
Whether you already work in the hydrogen sector or are simply curious about Europe’s clean energy future, the STORMING Hydrogen Quiz is open to everyone.
Answer questions, climb the leaderboard and compete against players from across Europe while discovering how innovative hydrogen production technologies can contribute to industrial decarbonisation.
Play the STORMING Hydrogen Quiz on EnerWhizz today and see how high you can climb the rankings.

Learning Through Play
Communicating European research projects often means translating highly technical information into formats that are easy to understand and enjoyable to explore.
For the STORMING project, EEIP chose a different approach. Instead of relying solely on articles, reports and presentations, the consortium’s communication activities were expanded through a gamified learning experience using EnerWhizz.
The quiz introduces participants to topics including hydrogen production, methane cracking, European hydrogen policy and the role of innovative technologies in supporting the transition towards climate-neutral industry. Rather than passively reading about these subjects, participants actively engage with the material through short interactive challenges designed to encourage curiosity and knowledge retention.
This approach reflects EEIP’s wider commitment to developing communication formats that go beyond traditional dissemination, creating opportunities for broader public participation in European innovation projects.
Two Rounds, More Chances to Win
The campaign is organised across two competition rounds, giving participants multiple opportunities to join the challenge.
The first round runs from 4 November to 15 December 2024, while the second takes place between 16 December 2024 and 31 January 2025.
Each round rewards the 25 highest-ranked players, meaning 50 winners will receive exclusive STORMING-branded prizes by the end of the campaign.
The live leaderboard allows participants to track their progress, improve their score and compete with other players throughout the competition.
If you do not reach the top during the first round, there is always another opportunity to improve your ranking in the second.
Supporting European Hydrogen Week
The timing of the campaign is no coincidence.
European Hydrogen Week is the continent’s leading event dedicated to hydrogen technologies, bringing together industry leaders, researchers, policymakers and innovators to discuss the future of Europe’s hydrogen economy.
Launching the STORMING quiz during this period extends the conversation beyond conference halls and technical sessions. It allows anyone with an interest in hydrogen, whether attending the event or following it remotely, to engage directly with the topics shaping Europe’s clean energy transition.
By connecting project communication with one of Europe’s flagship hydrogen events, EEIP helps ensure that the knowledge generated by STORMING reaches audiences far beyond the project consortium.
From Research to Public Engagement
STORMING is developing innovative methane cracking technologies capable of producing hydrogen while avoiding the direct carbon dioxide emissions associated with conventional hydrogen production methods.
Explaining this type of research to non-specialist audiences is not always straightforward. The STORMING Hydrogen Quiz demonstrates how interactive communication can bridge that gap by transforming complex scientific concepts into engaging learning experiences.
For EEIP, initiatives such as this are part of a broader strategy to increase the impact of European research projects through creative communication, digital engagement and stakeholder participation. Gamification provides an opportunity to reach students, professionals, policymakers and citizens alike, helping build awareness of emerging technologies in a way that is both educational and enjoyable.
Join the Challenge
The STORMING Hydrogen Quiz is now live, and everyone is invited to take part.
Whether you are looking to test your existing knowledge, learn something new or simply enjoy a bit of friendly competition, the quiz offers a unique opportunity to discover more about hydrogen technologies while competing for exclusive project prizes.
Play the STORMING Hydrogen Quiz on EnerWhizz today, challenge your colleagues or friends and see if you can reach the top of the leaderboard before the competition closes.
