EEIP at Manufacturing Partnership Days 2025 in Brussels

The EEIP team represented the DMaaST project at the Manufacturing Partnership Days 2025, held in Brussels on 23-24 October. Bringing together leading industrial stakeholders, policymakers, researchers and innovation projects, the event provided an important platform to discuss the future of European manufacturing and the technologies needed to strengthen industrial competitiveness.

As communication and dissemination partner in the DMaaST project, EEIP participated in the event to present the project’s vision for more resilient, digital and sustainable manufacturing ecosystems.

Advancing Manufacturing-as-a-Service in Europe

Manufacturing Partnership Days is one of the key annual gatherings for Europe’s manufacturing research and innovation community. The event brings together projects funded under Horizon Europe and industry representatives to exchange knowledge, showcase innovations and identify opportunities for collaboration.

At the event, EEIP introduced DMaaST’s innovative Manufacturing-as-a-Service (MaaS) approach, which aims to help manufacturers improve resilience, flexibility and sustainability through advanced digital technologies.

The project is developing a Smart Manufacturing Platform that combines:

  • Cognitive Digital Twins
  • Interoperable industrial data spaces
  • AI-supported decision-making tools
  • Sustainability assessment methodologies
  • Distributed manufacturing capabilities

Together, these technologies support manufacturers in responding more effectively to disruptions, changing market conditions and sustainability requirements.

Manufacturing Resilience in a Changing Industrial Landscape

European manufacturers face increasing challenges, including supply chain disruptions, rising resource costs, geopolitical uncertainty and ambitious decarbonisation targets.

During discussions at Manufacturing Partnership Days, stakeholders highlighted the growing need for solutions that improve both operational efficiency and industrial resilience.

DMaaST directly addresses these challenges by enabling companies to access manufacturing capabilities, services and knowledge through collaborative digital ecosystems. Rather than relying solely on traditional ownership models, manufacturers can benefit from more flexible and interconnected production networks.

This approach supports a more adaptive and resource-efficient manufacturing sector while helping companies remain competitive in rapidly evolving markets.

Engaging with Europe’s Manufacturing Community

The event provided an opportunity for EEIP to engage with representatives from industry, research organisations, technology providers and European institutions.

Conversations focused on several key topics shaping the future of manufacturing:

  • Digital transformation of industrial processes
  • Data interoperability and industrial data spaces
  • Circular economy approaches
  • Industrial resilience and autonomy
  • Sustainable production systems
  • Artificial intelligence in manufacturing

The strong interest in Manufacturing-as-a-Service and digital manufacturing solutions demonstrated the growing recognition that Europe’s industrial future will depend on greater collaboration, flexibility and intelligent use of data.

Building Synergies Across Horizon Europe Projects

One of the key benefits of Manufacturing Partnership Days is the opportunity to build connections between projects addressing complementary challenges.

For DMaaST, the event enabled exchanges with initiatives working on advanced manufacturing, digitalisation, circular economy and industrial sustainability. These interactions help strengthen collaboration across the European innovation landscape and contribute to the wider uptake of project results.

For EEIP, supporting these exchanges is an important part of ensuring that innovative solutions move beyond individual projects and contribute to broader industrial transformation.

Supporting Europe’s Green and Digital Transition

The discussions in Brussels reinforced the importance of combining digital innovation with sustainability objectives.

Projects such as DMaaST demonstrate how advanced digital tools can help manufacturers optimise resource use, improve decision-making and strengthen resilience while supporting Europe’s climate and competitiveness goals.

As the project progresses, EEIP will continue promoting DMaaST’s results and engaging stakeholders across Europe to accelerate the adoption of Manufacturing-as-a-Service solutions and resilient manufacturing ecosystems.
