PROCURE SELECTS 3 INNOVATIVE APPROACHES

procuRE launched the first out of three phases towards reaching its goal to develop innovative solutions to achieve 100% Renewable Energy Supply in existing public buildings.

The six procurers from Slovenia, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Israel, and Turkey selected three innovative Renovation Approaches which will be designed in the next three months.

Following the preparation phase with Open Market Consultation events, the Call for Tenders was released on 24 November 2021. 6 tenders were submitted of which 3 successfully passed the evaluation process.

It has been exciting to read through the solutions submitted by the suppliers and procuRE is looking forward to the further collaboration in Phase I where the companies will start developing the Renovation Packages for the demonstration buildings derived from their generic Renovation Approach.

More about Phase I

Phase I of the PCP process runs in the period 10 May – 9 August 2022. The three core R&D efforts for suppliers are:

  • Deploy, test and iterate the Co-Design procedure to coordinate information and decision flows with six procurers in parallel;
  • Develop the schematic designs of Renovation Packages for each of the six buildings;
  • Utilise procurer comments from the initial proposal received and learnings during the Phase to further improve the Renovation Approach.

During this phase, the selected suppliers are to demonstrate the technical, financial and commercial feasibility of the proposed approaches to meet the procurement requirements. The suppliers will receive funding for the next step of developing their innovative solutions in accordance with the procurers’ input. In three months’ time the Buyers Group will evaluate which of these suppliers will continue working on the project in Phase II, the prototyping phase of the pre-commercial procurement.

The selected suppliers

After meeting the common requirements and thus passing the evaluation criteria, the following suppliers will work on designing their innovative solutions:

PARadISE - the consortium of companies R2M Solution, Prosume, ENDEF Engineering, and Aire Limpio determines its objective as to deliver a comprehensive energy service solution for public buildings, aiming to cover 100% of consumption with renewables, minimising the number of necessary system components, for easier integration and O&M, and an optimised investment.

CLARITY - the consortium of Sener Ingeniería y Sistemas, FUNDACIÓ EURECAT, and AGGITY Europe proposes a unique platform which will deliver 100% RES in 3 steps.

SEBR - a consortium of several companies - Defcon8, Lancey Energy Storage, ITEC, Mondas, CIFE, Three o'clock, and Edison Electronics - that transforms old buildings into energy-wise efficient buildings with state-of-the-art technology.
