Technical translation
Energy Efficiency is not only about technology. From time to time we are highlighting related services of relevance so that companies do not forget the little, but often important pieces in the jigsaw to market their energy efficiency solutions internationally. An example is this short paper about technical translation. TAKE THE WORD “OBSTRUCT”. A German technical dictionary offers six different translations, each one with a slightly different meaning. This is understandable since “obstruct” also has different connotations in English. For example, an obstructed pipe is clogged, whereas an obstructed roadway is blocked off. Coherent and correct use of language from marketing to technical aspects shows professionalism and adds to trust building in client relationships.
